SUP Yoga as a Team Day, A Decision-Maker's Guide
The standard team outing does not work anymore. It is another lunch somewhere, or drinks at a bar, and people attend because they have to. It does not build team cohesion, create lasting memory, and two weeks later it is forgotten.
SUP yoga (yoga on paddleboards) is different. It is an activity that requires the entire group to be fully present together, with no meetings, no phones, and no way out. And it actually works.
What Happens During a SUP Yoga Session
Your team meets at Sickla Strand in Stockholm, at Elton's Café and Smashing Balance. Everything you need is in one place: changing rooms with lockable cabinets, sauna, paddleboard equipment, and food if you want it.
We start on shore with a brief safety talk and introduction (no experience needed). The group then paddles out to a floating platform on the lake for 45–60 minutes of yoga on the boards. You choose whether you want gentle, movement-focused vinyasa or calm, grounding yin yoga. This is fully customized to your group's level and energy that day.
After yoga: sauna. It is always included. Wood-fired or electric sauna at the water's edge, the option to swim between rounds, and time to rest and reconnect as a group.
Why It Works for Teams
SUP yoga outperforms standard team days on a few key metrics:
Full presence is not optional
You cannot email from a paddleboard. You cannot check Slack. You cannot opt out and work. It forces the entire group into one shared activity at the same time.
It creates a shared memory
People will reference this moment weeks later. "Remember when someone almost lost balance on the board?" It becomes a shared story for your team, not just a day that fades.
It is actually restorative
Another bar night is not restorative for a stressed team. An hour on the water with breath work and sauna after it genuinely lowers heart rate and reduces tension.

Many people believe they "cannot do yoga" or are "not outdoorsy." SUP yoga proves them wrong. It builds self-efficacy and openness within the team.

Pricing
From 500 SEK per person for yoga and sauna combined, with a minimum total of 1,500 SEK per event (equals 3 people). Final price depends on group size and duration.
Group size
Ideal: 3–10 people. Groups up to 15 can be arranged on request.
Time commitment
Typically 2–4 hours total: safety briefing on shore (15 min), paddle out (15 min), yoga (45–60 min), sauna (30–60 min), plus changing and rest. We adjust entirely to your timeline.
Location and logistics
Sickla Strand, Nacka. Parking on site. 10–15 minutes from central Stockholm by subway (Sickla or Hammarby Sjöstad stations).
Season
Private events available late April through September.
What's Included vs. Add-Ons
Yoga on paddleboards and sauna are always included. Everything else is built to order:
- –Trail running in Nacka nature reserve, guided run led by me, pace and distance adapted to your group
- –Tennis with Lucas, private lesson with tennis professional on site, good if anyone wants a completely different activity
- –Water bikes, fun for all levels, even people unfamiliar with water
- –SUP rentals, paddleboard time to explore the lake independently before or after yoga
- –Food via Elton's Café, snacks or full meal on site by the water
Safety and Responsibility
Swimming ability is required. Life jacket included and must be accessible. Instructor is a certified yoga teacher with group experience. All equipment provided by Smashing Balance. 48-hour cancellation policy: 50% refund or 30-day credit.
